Bio:

Cliff Johnson brings 29 years of experience, working with and around trucking, to his Trucking Specialist position with Acuity.  Growing up on a dairy farm as a teen, feed was hauled in from the fields using semi-trucks and trailers.  At 18 years old, he began hauling raw forest products to saw, paper mills and power plants in WI, MN and MI.  During college he worked in the trucking industry, both short, long haul and LTL freight, through college, earning his Masters Degree in Business Risk Control from University of Wisconsin Stout. 
After graduation, he worked as a loss control representative for Great West and then worked as an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager nearer his home town.  In 2001, he returned full time to operating his own businesses.  Managing a regional trucking company hauling raw forest products, lumber, telephone poles, aggregate, asphalt, boiler-fuel and overweight/oversize equipment.  In addition, Cliff owned three timber crews, a road building crew and a truck and trailer repair facility.  He has extensive knowledge of the various types of CMV trucks and trailers, their application and their mechanical configuration and requirements.   
In Cliff’s current role with Acuity, he acts a resource to underwriting, claims, loss control, sales, agents and insureds on issues related to trucking.  Though much of his work involves compliance with FMCSRs, his main focus is on reducing the liability of the motor carrier to unnecessary risk and loss.  He is currently serving as treasurer, for the WI Council of Safety Supervisors for the WI Motor Carriers Association.  He has recently served as a board member of the Great Lakes Timber Producers Association working on the Transportation Committee and holds the “Master Logger” certification for his timber work and Class B road building projects.  Cliff currently holds a Class A, B, C, D and M Commercial Driver’s License.  Cliff joined ACUITY in June 2014.
