Professionalism, precision, and pride were on full display at the 2026 Stoops Freightliner and Western Star Ohio Truck Driving Championships (TDC) and Technician Competition (TechComp), presented by PrePass, held May 15–16 at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions.

The annual event brought together Ohio’s top professional drivers and technicians for two days of competition focused on safety, skill, and technical excellence. A total of 239 professional drivers competed in a written exam, pre-trip inspection, and a challenging driving course designed to test precision, knowledge, and safe driving ability under pressure. Emerging as this year’s top overall driver was Tom Congrove of UPS, who earned the prestigious 2026 Michael Hathaway Memorial Trophy Grand Champion title.

In the Technician Competition, 27 highly skilled technicians showcased their expertise through a written exam, hands-on training exercises, and 10 diagnostic stations that evaluated their technical knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and efficiency. Carl Diehl of Hogan Truck Leasing was named the 2026 Technician Competition Grand Champion.

Beyond the competition itself, the event highlighted the professionalism and dedication that keep Ohio’s trucking industry moving safely and efficiently every day.
